Our Story

Built from
two hives
and a family.

We're a family from Tumwater, Washington. The name West & Bash comes from our kids. This isn't a brand we invented. It's just us.

We started keeping bees because we believe in what they make. Raw honey with real provenance. Beeswax you can trust. Calendula we grow ourselves, dried and infused by hand before it ever touches an ounce of oil.

We don't have a launch date. We have a harvest season. When the hives are ready, we make a batch. When it's gone, it's gone.

— Ally & Derek, Tumwater WA

How We Make It

Slow by design.
Not by accident.

01
We grow the calendula.
Our calendula is grown in Tumwater and harvested by hand every morning when the resin is at its peak — you can feel it, slightly sticky between your fingers. We dry it ourselves in a food dehydrator at low heat until it's completely papery and crinkly. No moisture. No shortcuts. Any dampness means mold in the oil, and that means starting over.
02
We cold-infuse the oils.
Dried calendula and lemon balm go into organic sweet almond oil. Dried lavender into fractionated coconut oil. Dried rosemary into jojoba. Three jars, three pairings, all sitting in a sunny window for four to six weeks. We shake them daily and wait. The oil turns a deep golden orange. That color is the resin — and that's what makes the product work.
03
We render our own beeswax.
The beeswax comes from our two hives in Tumwater. As production grows, so does our wax supply. Right now we supplement with certified organic beeswax from a trusted Pacific Northwest source while our own hives scale. Every batch is logged. Every source is known.
04
We make small batches.
Oil and wax go into a dedicated low-temperature crockpot. We weigh everything in grams — not cups — so every batch is consistent. We pour by hand into tins and tubes, leave the lids off until fully cooled, and log each batch with the date, the ratios, and any notes. When a batch turns out exactly right, we want to be able to repeat it.
05
We release when it's ready.
There are no pre-orders, no launch windows, and no promises about timing. When a batch is ready, we let our list know. When it sells, it's gone. The next batch comes when the next harvest does.
